MONDAY OCT 1st: O’Dell to Woodlot

Get out your rain slicks, it is going to be a wet one.

This evenings flight will find us venturing up through O’Dell park, in Flight Club, single track fashion towards the Woodlot.  We will be pouncing on some traditional tarmac (the road) as well, to make the connection between points A and B.

This run can be as short or long as you like.  Because we are not straying too far from the City proper, you can bail when you feel the need without worry of being lost, stranded, alone, with wolves after you.

Please bring a headlamp.  Our last two Flights were finished in the dark, don’t be left behind in it.

Rain drops keep falling on our heads…

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 24th: ISLANDVIEW (Round Three)

Good afternoon Monday Frequent Flyers, this is your Captain typing….

Tonight we are headed up to the always beautiful, hilly, flow-y splendour that is ISLANDVIEW.  This is a great place for those looking to squeeze in five km’s, or ten km’s, something for everyone.

We highly recommend you bring a headlamp and some water with you as we continue on through the Fall.

I know some of you may have tired legs from the Fall Classic yesterday.  A lot of our Frequent Flyers placed very high in the standings and we are proud of you here  at Radical Air Flight Club…but no excuses, we will see you tonight.

Below is a link to a map of (roughly) what we will run tonight.  I am a dummy and left my AMBIT on while driving home so you have to zoom in on the actual loop we ran located on the far right hand side of the map.

See you on the tarmac.

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 17: Penniac Point to Point

Hi folks.  This is your Captain here, happy to report that the skies are looking clear and sunny for us tomorrow.

We have a new run scheduled this week.  We will car pool up to Mount Hope and hop on to the Penniac / Hadley Challenge race course.  We expect to run about 10km’s. That being said be prepared to tack on a few km’s or subtract a few, again, new run.  We will pop out of the woods where we usually start our Penniac run, right across from the Nashwaak river, five km’s from the old cotton mill.

This run will require a little more coordination than usual, we will need some shuttles dropped off and waiting for us at our destination to take us back to our departure point.  If you have a vehicle with a few seats available please bring er on down to the shop at 5:30pm.

We are excited to add another run to our repertoire, but this run requires a little more commitment than usual.  If you are feeling at all hesitant on the distance, please come by at the usual meeting time to ask questions not covered here, or call the shop (459 3478 X 2) any time tomorrow before 5:30pm.

Below is a picture we lifted off of the Hadley Challenge website.  You can check out the distance here.  Don’t be afraid to push yourself a little outside your comfort zone on this one, it is the only way to grow.  Bring a headlamp if you have one and some hydration and nutrition as well, just in case.

Anything can happen in the woods.

See you tomorrow.

We have a FACEBOOK page too.

Never heard of Facebook?  Well then, you are probably productive while at work, can carry a  conversation and make eye contact with other people while doing so, and are probably engaged in outdoor activities during your leisure time and not a slave to a cell phone.  Good job, well done.  Don’t let it get to your head.

But we have to cater to the masses, those in desperate need to remain connected and ever so up to date with the rest of the world.  So the Flight Club has its own Facebook Page now.  That’s all I am trying to say.

This guy will NOT be running with us.

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 10TH: WOOLASTOOK ROUND TWO!

Yo y’all.

Sorry about not having a scheduled flight at our regular departure time last Monday.  Let us make it up to you by going to Woolastook this Monday and fly our friggin fannies off.  These are my favourite trails and I want to hit them up again and potentially scout them out for a good five and ten or six and twelve km race later in the fall.

Here is a trail map for you to gander at.  Not sure if we will run exactly what’s pictured below.  I think ALL the trails are featured on this map – so we definitely won’t be running it all.  Unless you want to show off.  Which we encourage.

Can’t wait to see everyone on Monday.  They just aren’t the same with out you.

(Cue cheesy music, preferably something by Kenny Loggins….wipe the single tear off your cheek…and we’re done.)

MONDAY SEPT 3rd: NO SCHEDULED RUN

Sorry folks – be back next week.

There will be no Radical Edge staff or Trail Leaders meeting up this week.  sorry folks, but everyone needs to get away.  We will be back on track next week.  You can check out the Trail heads section here for a look see at what you might like to tackle independently, I suggest Penniac.  Well marked with pink ribbon and an out and back.

Have a lovely Labour Day everyone!

MONDAY AUG 27 -ISLAND VIEW

Good Monday to you all.  The Flight Crew will be undergoing one of its favourite voyages tonight, to the lovely land of ISLAND-VIEW.

There will be a short distance option of about five km’s for those who might be interested and enough seasoned pilots to take others along a longer flight path of 10km’s.

This is some technical and demanding single trail with a big ol’ hill for you to hate, so bring your fighting spirit along with your water and a cold one (or two) for when we have landed.

MONDAY AUGUST 20TH: MARYSVILLE – ROUND TWO

We probably won’t do all ba-jillion km’s worth of trail, but some.

Hello everyone, this is your Captain typing.

Last week on flightclub air we had our vessel filled almost to capacity.  With 20 runners dashing through the Woolastook Woods we sure felt happy  you chose to recreate with us.

Cheers! (If you are not currently holding a glass that makes the necessary “tink” sound, please go find one.)

This week we will be re-visiting one of our earliest trail endeavours: MARYSVILLE.  There is lots of single track out there.  We will plan to run for our usual hour, with a few breaks in between.

Bring some water, a growler, a friend, whatever you like.  We will take off from the Westmorland Shop at 5:30pm SHARP!

That’s all for now.  Until Monday folks, may your week be as exciting as shark week.

Hello.  Being struck by lightning is lousy.  So, in the spirit of avoiding thins that are lousy, we are moving our BBQ to the Westmorland Radical Edge location after our run in Woolastook tonight.

See you there!

MONDAY AUGUST 13TH: WOOLASTOOK 9KM TRAIL RUN

ImageHey everyone, this is your flightmaster speaking; we are readying for take off to Woolastook.

We have a nice flight planned for you on Monday.  We will be cruising at whatever speed you like, at an elevation of however elevated Woolastook is.  We will be covering 9km’s of ground, so bring some water and gusto along with you on this trip.

We have been told that there is a swimming hole in the area, so if you would like to bring you swim wear please feel free to mingle with the locals in the cool of the water.

Also; it should be noted that a storm in the direct vicinity from last week has felled many a once proud and tall standing tree, so we may have some turbulence on our flight path, but hey folks, that comes with the territory.

You can check out our flight plan below.

Thank you for flying Air NB with the Fredericton Flight Club.
